Lake Maggiore & Lake d'Orta
Where Belle Époque grandeur meets the silent poetry of a monastic retreat.
If Como is the theatre of drama, Maggiore and Orta are the gardens of the soul. These two lakes, separated by Mount Mottarone, offer a duality rarely found elsewhere. Lake Maggiore is vast, luminous, and defined by the 'Grand Tour' aesthetic—floating palaces on the Borromean Islands and botanical masterpieces where white peacocks roam freely. It is a place of extroverted beauty.
Then, the mood shifts. Just over the mountain lies Lake d'Orta. It feels less like a grand stage and more like a private retreat. The scale is smaller here. The silence surrounding the Island of San Giulio is heavy, almost spiritual. If Maggiore is the ballroom, Orta is the sanctuary.
But connecting these two worlds takes real work. Let’s be clear: getting guests from a Baroque palace to a tiny medieval street is a puzzle. It might look like a scenic tour, but behind the scenes, it requires the instinct of a local destination wedding planner in Italy.
We absorb the friction. We handle the boat timings and the narrow docks. The goal is to make the logistics invisible. Your guests should feel like they are simply drifting between two worlds, never noticing the schedule that keeps it all afloat.
"One lake overwhelms you with beauty. The other quietly takes your breath away. Both stay with you forever."
— Sarah Pozzi · Founder

“"Maggiore is the world seen from a balcony; Orta is the world seen from a secret window."”
The Architectural Canvas

I
The Floating Palace
Baroque masterpieces rising from the water on private islands. Think terraced gardens, ten-tiered architecture, and arrival by boat for a ceremony that feels suspended between sky and lake.

II
The Belle Époque Grandeur
Historic hotels and villas that echo the glamour of the 19th century. High ceilings, crystal chandeliers, and manicured lawns stretching towards the Alps. Ideal for large, aristocratic celebrations.

III
The Mystical Hamlet
The intimate charm of Lake d'Orta. Medieval stone villages, secluded monasteries turned into venues, and waterside terraces where the silence is profound. Perfect for soulful, romantic gatherings.

The Culinary Narrative
This region sits at the crossroads of water and mountains. Our culinary curation reflects this unique terroir: freshwater fish like perch and trout from the deep lakes, paired with the rich, structured cheeses of the Ossola valleys and the noble wines of nearby Piedmont. We design menus that move away from the generic, offering your guests a taste of the aristocratic country life.
Conscious Celebration
The gardens of Lake Maggiore are botanical heritage sites, not just backdrops. Our approach to sustainable wedding planning here involves a deep respect for these living ecosystems. We prioritize floral designs that enhance, rather than compete with, the centuries-old camellias and azaleas, working with local artisans to ensure our footprint remains invisible.
Know Before You Begin
While the lakes are open from April to October, the true magic happens in Spring (April-May) when the camellias and azaleas are in full bloom, turning the shores into a riot of color. Alternatively, September offers a crisp, clear light perfect for photography.
A strategic advantage: these are the closest luxury lakes to Milan Malpensa (MXP), often less than an hour away. This proximity allows for effortless guest arrivals, making it feasible even for shorter multi-day experiences.
Couples torn between grandeur and intimacy. It suits those who want the 'Wow factor' of a lakeview palace/villa or a castle, but also crave the soulful, quiet moments of a medieval village. It is a destination for the romantics and the literature lovers.
